Probably not best sticking to loose stuff for a couple weeks might aggrivate you or you might be ok and able to do so depends how you are x

I still can't wear my normal bra. I am two weeks post op and have just been wearing a bralet. The top incision is just under where the centre of your bra goes, and I still have a scab on the scar so have been worried about knocking it. You'll also be quite uncomfortable straight after the operation.

Hi Linda, I wouldn't bother as you'll be at home, the central one was far enough down that it didn't catch but the 2 smaller ones near the ribs were a bit close so while I was at home I didn't bother, it was a bit strange at first but I soon got use to it! When you do wear clothes rather than pj's then I made sure that the trousers I wore were loose around the waist as I didn't want any pressure on my stomach at all while I was healing.

Everyone is different though so you need to do what is right for you. Take care x

I did not wear one for a couple of weeks as the band woud have rubbed on the upper incisionand also I felt quite a lot of pressure in the chest area. It did not matter since I was resting up at home.

When the wounds healed, I still stuck to a soft non wired design for quite some time, in fact, prefer these now. Good luck for surgery.

I had open surgery and couldn't wear a bra for weeks after, but even when I was having pains before the op, I couldn't bear anything over where my gallbladder was. I wore soft short, vest style tops for some support instead. I also had issues post op with waistbands, especially where I'd had a drain in. I'd been discharged with a drain in and felt uncomfortable and sore wearing anything that touched it. I wore dresses with tights and eased the tights down slightly on my right side or I wore tunics with leggings and did the same with them. I am five months on and have been wearing bras and jeans for about two months now. Still self conscious about the roll of scar tissue around my midriff though, so wearing loose tops, nothing too fitting. It's not really an issue for me as it's such a relief to be over the surgery and not have the pain and other symptoms to deal with.

Hope all goes well for you!

    Hi Linda:

It all depends. After I had my gallbladder surgery . I put on one of my sports bras because they were more comfortable. But also I had the bra tucked right under my breasts. My surgery was on Feb 7th of this year. After I took the bandage off, my incision healed quickly. Good luck. Iris.
