After UFE

Hello ladies
I got the procedure UFE Feb 15 2018 I have been spotting off and on the whole time and as of yesterday I started and it's pretty heavy. Let's just say I am really discouraged I know it works for some and not for others. I need to go back in may to check if they shrunk, but I'm just frustrated. I was trying to avoid hysterectomy by all cost but these things are a nightmare. I know it's soon and it can take time I'm just tired of it. My update no more pain or cramps just this now. I know all of us are fighting for a joyous life back and have had struggles with fibroids. I really don't know why woman have to go through this. Sorry ladies don't mean to be a downer I'm hoping this is just my emotions/hormones talking.

Yes, I too went through this and I am on my 5 month post surgery (March 24th will be 5 months) and things are just now settling down. I had to relax and stop worrying so much and trust that I had made the right decision for myself and everything was going to be okay.
So, give it time.....every woman heals differently as our fibroids are all very different. During the times when my period came and was continuous, I just focused on what was going right...like not being anemic anymore and my stomach shrinking which was evidence that the fibroids were shrinking. Another positive was the fact that I could now wear my clothes.
All in all, things get better each day. Hang in there......it will get better for you too.

Hi Kirsten
Hang in there! It feels like a slog but hopefully it will be worth it in the end. And i imagine recovering from a hysterectomy would be worse or at least as bad. I also felt demoralised and anxious about my UFE for a while after the procedure.
I had my embolisation on 25 Jan 2018. Now, 2 months later, i am glad i did it and some of the horrible after effects are fading in my memory... My uterus has shrunk and my fibroids seem to have gone down and hopefully will continue to do so. It feels like i am getting my body back - i can wear some of my old clothes again! I had around 8 fibroids some quite large and am 49 years old.
I bled for a good week during recovery and my 1st 2 x periods have been quite heavy. They say to expect that with your periods and i have to keep reminding myself that it is a good thing as my body is getting rid of the fibroid tissue!
That said i had a difficult time after the procedure. I had no idea i'd feel so rubbish - physically and emotionally. I was off work for 3.5 weeks in total, partly as i had an infection, and went back part time/altered hours for 2 weeks after that. So it took much longer than i thought it would. But it didnt last forever...
Good luck with your healing. Make sure you are taking good care and not expecting too much of yourself. Just because there are no stitches doesnt mean it is not a major procedure and will not take some time to recover from.
And think about your iron intake - i realise that i may have been a bit anaemic afterwards and that didn't help matters.... Hugs, Sue
