After weeks of awful acid problems I now can't stop coughing and clearing my throat

I've tried everything suggested for the bloating, pain shortness of breath etc and ended up in a&e where I was treated for gastritis. My medication was changed and I felt much better. My throat and chest is now really sore from trying to clear my throat and continual coughing which has kept me awake untill 3 and 4 in the morning.
i have been referred back to the gastroenterologist who performed a fundoplication on me six years ago to see how much damage the steroids they say, has caused. This is driving me and everyone else mad what can I do while I am waiting?
Im taking 10 mg. pred now and coping a lot better as well as vit D pravastatin, esomeprasole , gaviscon and inhalers. I also eat yoghurt with fruit, honey and lemon in water. I was diagnosed November 14 with GCA and PMR and put on 45mg of pred and both the hospital and my rheumatologist want me to reduce the pred quicker than I want to so I'm still following the programme best for me.
im just at the end of my tether with this tiring and debilitating problem.
help!

I couldn't take omeprazole, they made my stomach worse and made me feel very ill, but I have been happily settled on lansoprazole for some years now - like you I'd already had gastric problems so that might be something to mention to your doctor/s?
I can say that things will get better although it's hard to believe at times. But they do, honest!

im not able to take any of the usual tablets such as ordinary omeprasole Zantac etc and the gastroenterologist put me on Rabeprazole which isn't working any more. I've already had a hiatus hernia repair as well as fundoplication and the esomeprasole is actually worked for the gastritis but now they're talking about silent acid reflux which could cause the throat problems.
i do take enteric coated steroids and most of my other tablets are coated too but this just won't stop .i know you're right and things will get better but I'm just so exhausted .
thank you for your input.

Try this, put lemon in microwave for 1 minute, squeeze jiuce, divide into three, take in water before each meal. Acid turns to alkali and stops the reflux.
I just might work.

Its is also worth squeezing some lemon into your daily drinking water - say in a jug. Also look at your diet and try to eat more alkaline - you can find lists of acidic and alkaline foods on the net.
