Aftermath stroke

I suffered a mild stroke a month ago. I am quite well now but always with a fear that could happen again. Always fearing that I would faint in streets. How could I get rid of these feelings? Thank you for answering. Fayçal

Hi Barbara, I am Fayçal living in Morocco. I had the same thing than you? Yes my doctor put me on medicine to reduce the chances of any other stroke. But if I feel much better, my head always work and send me bad signals. Sometimes I am in the street and it says something will happen to you. I know somewhere inside me that nothing will happen but still my brain sends these false signals. I say false because I don't feel anything not normal. And I still not feel that I have completely recovered. I still fell tiredness during the day and I need to rest, even to take a nap. Then after, I feel better. Do you think we can recover completely after a mild stroke? I try to maintain my cholesterol level as low as possible being helped by a drug my doctor gave me to control it. I just feel better talking to people like you who send messages to tell their misfortune. Thank you. I'll go on writing. Fayçal

i had a mini stroke but there was no stroke damages i was at the gym i think i was overtraining they say they call it a mini stroke because it has stroke symptoms like my whole left side and face went numb. But there were no signs of a stroke they put me on blood thinners for 8 months then now i'm just on baby aspirin .Im fine now but at the beginning i was terrified to leave my house fearing it would happen again .So now i just focus on eating right and exercising and i don't think about it.that was july 20th 2016 it's been a little over a year .My advise try to focus on your diet and take the meds they give you until further notice .I think it gets better after a while.Just think positive 😁

I know the feeling. I would not mind feeling a bit ill or dizzy near my home or car but would not like to be on the street away from home. Not sure why as someone could call an ambulance. Maybe just don't want to feel like a bit silly falling down in the street. Since my TIA a year ago I have had these feelings and just got a taxi to A & E to get checked out. Usually by the time I am checked everything is ok again. Maybe plan when you go out what you can do if you feel ill. Have a mobile phone with you and have a friend's number handy or a taxi number. Bset of luck but I have found that the feelings get less and less as time goes on and confidence builds up. Good luck.

Hi , I also know how you feel , I think it is sometimes the fact that the stroke we had was so unexpected and such a shock to the system that our mind keeps thinking " what if " but all the stress and fear it is causing only makes life so much harder. Have as many tests done as your Dr can get done for you, find out what may have caused the stroke and you can then work on the areas of your body that need improving. It will take a while but the feeling lessens and I realised that if I did have something happen to me while out shopping there are far more people to help than if you were at home alone. I wish you all the best. Take care. Dee x
