One knee just constantly clicks, no pain, so no operation.
Other knee in constant pain but no offer of operation.
I believe its a postcode lottery.

I got put off for at least ten years. On waiting list now for new knee - possibly in new year now. Most scary bit for me was to be told I'll have to inject myself in my stomach every day for six weeks after the op! And they put a catheter in - nightmare.

take a look at my profile and the page on my blog where I describe my own knee journey.
Its well worth the effort.
I did not have a catheter. You could ask if possible not to have one.

The needle for the Lovenox is teeny tiny. Grab about an inch of fat on your belly and stick it in. You won't even feel it. Now, the medicine going in burns, but........ Catheters are generally placed while you're asleep or anesthetized and taking it out is not uncomfortable at not.

Hi. I'm 13 days post op. I had my op under spinal block and didn't need a catheter. The injections if you have to do them are tiny little needles so don't worry. I was given oral blood thinners (apixiban) for 2 weeks and told to wear the compression stockings for 6 weeks post op. You could ask if the oral meds are an option for you?
Good luck.

I wrote all about my experience from before op until one year later.

Hi, I'm 52 and 13 days post op tkr. Although my surgeon said I was relatively young for the op (explaining there was a chance I may need it replacing again in time) he was more than happy to go ahead and confident I would reap the benefits.
The first few days post op were horrendous painwise but nearly 2 weeks on I'm mobile without crutches indoors and the pain is minimal. I realise I've a long way to go to regain the flexion in my knee but overall I'm feeling great.
Go back to your surgeon. Good luck ?
