i have reflux and 2 days ago I had an EGD. yesterday i felt a bit of trapped air in my esophagus, it causes sudden spasms, similar to dilating a balloon and deflating. is this normal? is this serious?

It sounds like an esophageal spasm. They can be very painful but I don't think they are serious. There are certain trigger foods and drinks that can start them or if your food or drink is very hot or cold. If you are overweight, doctors usually say if you lose weight it can get better. I think anxiety can also be a trigger. I think drinking alcohol and smoking can also be triggers.
