Air Travel with Kidney Stone

Hello all, I have a 4mm kidney stone not moving in my upper ureter.  It has been sitting there for 2.5 weeks.  Last week, I experienced my second agonizing pain.  After two ultrasounds, by two different doctors at two different clinics, both doctors couldn't find the stone.  One doctor thinks it got pushed down and the second doctor thinks I passed it.  Since the second attack, I have not felt any pain, just very very minor lower back sore.  I down about 5-6 liters of water a day.

I have travel coming next week.  18 hours flight one way.  I spoke with two Urologists at two different clinics and they both say it's up to me.  Can anyone share their air travel (if any) experience?

Thanks again for your input.

I am very sorry for your dilemma. Interestingly, I was dealing with a kidney stone episode from Oct.1 - Nov.7, 2017. My wife and I had a vacation scheduled for Oct. 10-18. It was my first stone, but I made the decision to go on vacation anyway even though I hadn't passed the stone yet(and never did, had an operation instead). In my case, it didn't affect flight at all. 10 hours total flight time. I did have one bout of agonizing pain and nausea while on vacation that lasted for about 2 hours, but overall I am glad I went. My advice is to have your doctor stock you up on Zofran (for nausea), and pain killers before the trip. The Zofran kicks in really fast. If I have to be ill, I'd prefer to do it at home, but at the same time, you can't stop living your life. Just my 2 pennies....Hope your trip is uneventful in this regard.

Thanks Assassin1999, I will ask for Zofran.  This is also my first stone as well.  Still couldn't decide if I should go.  I'm not worry once I land.  Just worry about the long flight.  The coach seat is not very comfortable, especially when we have one of those kidney pain attacks.  Thanks for sharing your experience.
