Aircast boot

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have had an aircast boot for 2 + weeks following 7 weeks of non weightbearing after an ankle fusion.

I am more mobile, but I am still in a lot of pain particularly in the inner side of my ankle (where the pins will be)

walking with the aircast my ankle swells and gets painful. it feels very tight on my inner ankle. when not walking i elevate my foot and this relieves pain and swelling

Is it ok to walk without the airbags being deflated? so there is more room and less tightness.

I dont want to do anymore damage. Its 3 weeks before I see the consultant. the thought of doing damage resulting in another op scares me but I would like to reduce the pain!

anyone any ideas?

I think what you are experiencing is fairly normal

I had same issue after 7 weeks I could go full weight on boot and I developed a sore spot from where the boot was rubbing

    I stopped inflating the boot

The sore spot went away and then I was fine

Im out of the boot now Thank goodness
