Alcohol

Can you have menieres but be dizzy/lightheaded,floating/nausea rather than experiencing the whole room spinning? My ENT believes I have menieres.

Also: I went on a 100 mile bicycle ride yesterday all through the night, so i am very fatigued. Today I had one glass of wine and it has made me incredibly dizzy, nauseous, and when i move me head I feel like I'm going to fall over. Does this sound like Menieres?

It does sound like it I'm afraid Stephen. Read up on it as much as you can. It's not life threatening but it is life adjusting for most of us. Alcohol makes it worse in my opinion.

Alcohol!!! Makes me unwell...read up all you can. It certainly sounds like Menieres. It depends if it gets worse...mine stabilised for years but has now come back with avengeance.

Yes mine was okay for 8 years and I got a new bout of it a month ago after too much Whisky. Now that one glass of wine has tiipped me over the edge. I went to bed dizzy/llightheaded and woke up lightheaded. Is it possible for it to last all through the night?

Sorry, I shouldnt laugh as it is so awful...BUT I have gone to bed with it, woken in the night with it....woken up with it...just awful....if I do too much I am unwell.

Think I'll stop drinking alcohol and participating in 100 mile cycling events through the dead of night! That couldn't be good for Menieres.

Hate that it has come back after 8 years where i did all the wrong stuff.

I know what you mean. Even loud noises affect me. I wear 2 hearing aids and suffer with awful tinnitus. Its an isolating disease.

I hope I don't have hearing aids to look forward to. I'm only 50. tinnitus is awful. I can control it by moving my jaw and by pushing on the back of my neck. Weirrd.

DON'T!  Ever give the bike up I mean.  Not up to your (100 miles).  I go on 40/60 max rides and sometimes I think riding through our beautiful car-free country lanes on my bike when the sun shines too is perhaps the only thing that stops me from tipping over the edge with my ears when they really decide to bash me up...

No matter how much you can't you can/must - don't ever give up riding your bike!
