Alcohol and BV

I read somewhere that there could be a correlation between diet and BV. Also alcohol consumption. I do drink quite a bit... I enjoy Brandy and soda. Thoughts?

HI. I suffered with bv for over five years and I was beyond fed up with living with it and all the embarrassment and frustration it caused, especially not being comfortable getting too close to others. I spent hours scouring the net for cures or treatments and tried everything going including using prescribed anti biotics over and over again. I am over the moon to say that finally someone has made a medicated gel that actually works!! I mean REALLY works and I've not had any problems since... I live in the UK and the treatment is called Relactagel (lactate vaginal gel).
I would highly recommend you try to get hold of this product. At firSt I was prescribed to take one months worth of anti bs called metronidazole alongside using the relactagel every day for one week, then one relactagel per week until the anti bs ran out.
I hope this helps and that it is available to you wherever you are ?

The use of metronidazole at the same time as relactagel was the recommendation of the specialist clinic I visited, they said it was to give the bacteria a "blast" but I should think it would really depend on how bad your case is. I would visit your GP and ask their adviece but I cannot tell you how happy I am that it has finally gone! Good luck.

The relactagel is available fron Amazon but it is £9.75 per pack of 7 and you'll need approx 2 packs to complete the course that I did. So I would definitely suggest you get it on prescription if you can.

Soda nor alcohol does it to me. I rarely drink soda and I don't drink alcohol so I know that is not what causes it in me. I am still looking for an answer.

So to sum up; ask your GP for one month's Metronidazole tablets and for 2 boxes of relactagel. you apply the relactagel every day for 7 days at the same time as you start the metronidazole. after the first 7 days you apply the relactagel once every week until you run out. Since this treatment I have not had any problems for at least 9 months.
I hope this helps and that it is available to you wherever you are ?

My doctor wants me to go on six months extended metro gel treatment but I hate the side effects especially that you can't drink, I was like no way!
