Alcohol Indused Panic Attacks?

Posted , 9 users are following.

I feel like I am literally dying after drinking alcohol sometimes. Ive been to the hospital probably 5 times in the past year because of this issue. I get very confused, my vision goes blurry, my limbs start tingling, I start shaking all over, my blood pressure goes up, my sugar gets very low, and my heart rate will range from 80-220 in palpitations.

Everytime Ive been to the ER they convince me I am having a panic attack, but I am not so sure. I think there might be something else going on and its just getting wrote off as panic disorder and anxiety.

Anyone else ever experienced this horrible reaction?

If you're dealing with severe anxiety, I recommend not drinking alcohol as it's a depressant. However, some folks can have a couple and be just fine. Maybe work on the anxiety at the moment, then once healthy you can drink again.

Yah I've been there recently "Alcohol Withdrawals " I was having heart palpitations went to 3 different Dr.s s,therapist, AS meetings ,detox facility through Kaiser and all said it was anxiety related....i disagreed and was my own Dr. and I was right It was "Alcohol Withdrawals " so I tapered off alcohol and I'm fine no heart palpitations! My advice you know your body better than anyone else keep journal of your lifestyle and use common sense and don't Give up, pray also Gluck my friend your not going crazy it's real.

    I'm having it NOW!

I couldn't sleep last night so I drink some of my husband's whiskey. I finally went to sleep but I'm paying for it today. My anxiety is beyond bearable. If I thought they could relieve my pain at the ER I'd go. But, as like you, they'd just say its anxiety and send me home. There is nothing they can do. Don't even getting me started on the horrors of meds.

    Morgan

To be honest if you are drinking to become ill a high of 220 would possibly have you in A and E.

The hospital would have checked your blood pressure etc  This sounds like a complaint of banging your head against a brick wall and complaining it hurts, why would that person keep banging their head. Personally I do not know how much you drink, or how old you are.

Anxiety will increase blood pressure etc, I advise you make an appointment with your GP and get checked out

Yes I had exactly this. Time to stop the boozing for the time being and get your nervous system back in synch. It is anxiety.

Yes it can happen. I don’t drink much anymore but was with some friends last weekend and drank quite a bit. The next morning I thought I was hungover but it was much worse. Felt like I was dying. Heart was flipping, insane dizziness, blurry vision. I literally couldn’t drive home. I kept pulling over and crying

This always happens me after a heavy night (nights) of drinking and recently Ive been drinking Diorlyte the night after heavy drinking and the morning after.

Xanax (0.25mg) is also a life saver for me
