Alfuzosin - side effects

I have just been prescribed 2.5mg of Alfuzosin for primary bladder neck obstruction. This was the second time that I had been prescribed this drug, the first time I suffered from side effects. The doctor lowered the dose this time but within half an hour of taking the tablet I had a blocked nose, dry mouth, felt sick and had a headache. This happened last time. Hopefully there will be an alternative.

    Hi,  I just came across your posting and I have been having the same propblems with 10mg tablets.  Did you find an alternative solution?

      No is the honest answer. I tried a total of 8 different tablets, all gave me side effects.

      luckily for me my symptoms improved of their own accord. Good luck, I hope you find that one of the variants will suit you.

    Thank you for replying.  Did you mean the side effects went away or that your prostate symptoms vanished and you are now ok, or is your prostate still enlarged?

      Symptoms gradually eased and went away, so no medication required

    Thanks for your reply. I'm hoping my side effects will ease now I'm off the drug. In the meantime I'll investigative some non-invasive surgery for the prostate enlargement. Green laser and UroLift seem to have promise.

    i have been prescribed 10mg of alfuzison for enlarged prostate the prostate is presing on bladder urinary neck making it difficult to pee the alfuzison relaxes the bladder allow me to pee i am 70 yrs old and up until i started taken alfuzison it was dfficult to get an erection my problem is that i am kinda stubborn so for five years it was difficult to pee and could not get an erection but since taken this treatment i have no difficulty in peeing and i have started getting an erection again .

    the only side effect i have is if if i get up from sitting or bending position to fast i have some dizziness 

    i am pleased with this drug also my wife

    lesson learned not to be so stubborn in going to doctor
