Alkaline Phosphate levels abnormal

My mom went to the doctor. He tells here that her Alkaline Phosphate is unbalanced (can't remember if it was low or high) she has complained of itchingand I read that has something to do with the liver. She has IBS and takes meds for Depression but other than that she's ok. She has never been a drinker. What could this be? I don't wanna freak out but I kinda am. Do not want it to be cancer or anything like that. Please help if u can.

    alk phos is a test for the bile ducts. there is something called Primary Biliary Cholangitis which can cause itching. research this and run it past your doctor.
