All it takes is one time..

Hi I'm Mia a 22 year old college student. I've always been a good girl and played things safe. Never in my life have I had unprotected sex until about 3 weeks ago when I had a one night stand with someone I went to high school with.

The next morning I took a plan b and a few hours later got my period. My period was abnormally heavy so I used super tampons instead of regular for the first few days. I stopped because they were too absorbent and sort of dried me out. I had some discomfort but chalked it up to the tampons and moved on.

The discomfort never went away so I started looking and noticed a bunch of little red bumps around the opening of my vagina. After doing some research I am like 99% sure it herpes.

I haven't gotten tested yet and am scared to get checked. I know I'll have to but I'm just not ready yet.

I'm hoping to find someone who has had herpes for a while and is familiar with what it's like to deal with long term...are the out breaks predictable and how long did it take to familiarize yourself with the signs of an outbreak?

I have no one to talk to about this and feel alone (which I know is not the case). I can't talk to my family as they are super judgemental and will be no help. Anyways sorry for the long post! Hope to hear from someone soon.

Hi mia, ive had genital HSV 1 for about 5 months now. I know that isnt really a long time. But im sure we all go through the same feelings initally when discovering we have herpes or may have it. Yes you are not alone, although you are almost sure you have it, i think how predictable your OB and what not will depend on the type you have and well just how your body alone handles it.

I can give you my perpective as someone with type 1 again granted i havent had it for even a year. But my initial OB has been my only, it was devastating to find out i had herpes considering i thought i just had a UTI. But, you already seem to have a positive outlook in the situation which is great, because herpes isnt at all what people make it out to be. 5 months and i havent experienced any other OB, just some tingling sensations that occured a few weeks after my first OB.

Well sorry for the long comment but thats just my 2 cents, good luck with everything!

    Hey Mia .

It does get better over time ...

And if it makes you feel any better herpes isn't anything but a skin condition that comes and goes ..

    Don't feel down .

The rate of herpes is going up and up as we speak .

The first outbreak you get will be the worst but after that they will be simple a little bump here a little bump there

The thing I had to learn about with this virus is to keep everything lubricated and DO NOT itch !! When you scratch at it its worsens everything and irratites it to where it could possibly spread even more .

A&D ointment and Vaseline is the best thing to get .

How are you feeling right now ?

Have you told anyone ? How long and bad was your first outbreak ??

I haven't told anyone unless you count here lol. I really don't have anyone that I can tell anyways. I'm doing my best to be positive but I'm back and forth between being semi positive and then thinking of how much my life will be affected... my outbreak hasn't gone away yet so it's been 3 weeks and counting.. I'm not sure of the severity of my outbreak cause I'm not sure what to expect. It's in an area about the size of my pinky but lots of tiny bumps close together...not sure if that helps. But thanks for taking the time to reply and sorry for such a long comment lol

I have herpestoo and suggest taking baths , using tea tree il and taking the meds. You cant be scared to go to the doctor. You already know what you're dealing with and natural remedies are life. But ypu have to get reasuured so that you can be treated. Bause whether ypu know it or not you CAN get herpes from condom sex. Even tho ypu most likely contracted it from unprotected sex.. As so did i
