Nausea too. So have to go off that one too now. Wonder if anyone will ever be able to help me with all these issues. My fingers are so swollen I can barely type.

so sorry to hear about your response to this drug ,do not dispair i am sure there is something out there that will suit you ,they just have to keep trying and you have to hang on in there .i wonder if by -passing the gut and using analgesics by patches or suppositries might help sometimes our systems just cant absorb anymore meds and you have to look at alternative routes just a passing thought .good luck when you see drs carolk

Snaggler - you really are going through the mill here aren't you. Have they been able to offer you anything to help with the itchness and feeling sick? I so wish I could come and give you a big hug - and your kids, it must be so difficult for them too.

Keep your chin up - one day soon there will be some good news for you to post for us. Hope for your sake it is very soon,

Snaggler - Isn't it so frustrating when drugs prescribed to help with an illness actually do the opposite, I do hope the doctor will find something that agrees with you next week. Meanwhile, have you tried 'live' (probiotic) yoghurt to help with the nausea? I also found that grated apple helped when I was suffering with the nausea and sickness of GCA prior to diagnosis. Stay positive and good luck for Monday.

The thing with Lyrica is I literally " cant get enough of it " , its a long story but I have fibromyalgia and awful headaches which have led to depression .I was prescribed pregabalin but i never picked it up for three years as I was terrified at the multitude of meds coming my way . Three years on and I went private and the consultant wrote to my GP recommending Pregabalin which my GP replied I was already on .So i tried the Pregabalin and it was like a miracle drug , it lifted my depression and eased my muscle pain as well as curing my headaches .Then came the catch I had confused the different colours of capsules and I was taking double my dose .I cut down to half and there was no relief at all .I informed my Dr and although the dose I was taking was with the recommended level he said he did not want to mix it with other meds i wa taking .I wasnt taking the other meds but I offered to to stop all the meds so he would give me the higher dose .

As a result I have to alternate my Lyrica "days" or have good week bad week , some people have suggested I can buy off the internet but i have been warned about this .

I am stuck in a good day / bad day scenario , it is frustrating .

I am desperate in need for help with fibromyalgia. Can someone please help me in finding a physician to help me. I don't dare bring this up to my family. I am 78 years old and can hardly move from what I believe is fibromyalgia. How do I know for sure that is my diagnosis? Sandra Stevens

This is a very old discussion I'm afraid and it isn't on a forum that is much to do with fibromyalgia.

"How do I know for sure that is my diagnosis?"

You don't, I'm afraid. It is a clinical diagnosis - i.e. it is made on the basis of the symptoms and that also applies to the disorder we all have which is polymyalgia rheumatica. Many of the symptoms overlap in these 2 illnesses and the experts have made lists of criteria that need to be fulfilled for them to say it is one or the other. In our experience many doctors, who haven't had either of them themselves, get very confused between the two. Most GPs should be able to make the basic decision - if they won't investigate a bit they need to send you to a rheumatologist if your symptoms suggest a rheumatism or arthritis-type illness.

Without knowing a lot more about YOUR symptoms nobody here can really say a lot or make any suggestions. However - your age and saying you can hardly move would be a basic starting point for a diagnosis of PMR too - providing you have other typical signs.

And for goodness sake - WHY can't you bring it up with your family?

My family is sick of me being in continual pain. People who haven't experienced it can never know what it feels like. I also am so tired continually that I can just be sitting here and doze off. It would be the greatest thing ever if they could give me something that would ease my pain.

You can check with your doctor about Cymbalta, or Savella. They're both alternative Medications used to treat Fibromyalgia.
