Allergic to my antidepressant after 2.5 years

I've been using Mirtazapine (45mg) since first lockdown, and aside from the weight gain, it's been a wonder drug for me. My anxiety was sky-high and this medication was the only thing keeping me grounded and sane.

But for the last couple of weeks, I've been experiencing really itchy skin about half an hour after taking my daily dose, and this itching persists throughout the night. I've spoken to my doctor who has booked me in for a liver-function blood test, but I'm 99% sure the Mirtazapine is the cause.

I'm just quite scared now because I depend so much on this drug. I was too scared to consider tapering, let alone stopping cold-turkey, and if it turns out I'm now allergic I won't have any choice but to quit there and then.

I'm just very frustrated, and I'm really not sure what to do. Has this happened to anybody else, and if so, how did you cope with the withdrawals? I'm honestly dreading it.
