allergic to punctal plugs?

So I have been having bad eye pain and Ive been told I have allergies and dry eyes. So I was given punctal plugs for the dry eyes and they have been helping relieve the pain. However, I notice a day after my skin is breaking out in weird spots and a bit bumpy I never had before. It looks similar to when I try a lotion and my skin reacts negative to it. Is it possible I can be allergic to the material of the plugs? I read that while it is rare, that you can be allergic to them.

Yes it is rare, but possible. Do you know if they were permanent or temporary? The temporary ones dissolve after a while, they are just to give you an idea if they are helpful or not.I have permanent punctal plugs for dry eye for about 8 years now and find them very helpful. If you think this is a reaction do go back to whoever put them in, or your own GP if you are n UK.

Not clear whether you mean this breakout is around your eyes or elsewhere on your face. It could also be a reaction to the local anaesthetic used to put the plugs in. It may calm down in a few days.
