Ok ive had M.E./CFS for over 21 years now.. and have also always had acute rynitus . But when i had a bad relapse 2 years ago i also started with allergice reations to lots of things.. food.. fabric softner ... random stuff. Ive taking amitriptyline for 5 years .. mainly for nerve pain/sleep problems etc.  Just wondering if anyone with CFS gets allergic reaction that are not on that drug as my problems ssem to have gotten far worse since talking the drug. I did see on the list of possible side effects that the itch crawly pricking to the skin is a side effect .. and this accounts for about 80% of my reactions. But its not there all the time.. seems to take something else to set it off.. ..

Hi there.  I have not come across many reactions but I do get the itchy crawly skin quite often, I am on pregablin after starting amitritptyline and then moving up on everything else for pain.  I have had M.E. for 7 years now and had a real bad relapse in 2013.  I was working part time up until then, and have had to give in work altogether as pain and mobility were worsened which has seen me bed bound and housbound quite frequently.

I have an aquaintance whose daughter has had M.E for over 10 years and she really does have bad reactions to all sorts of things.  She takes co-codemol (not sure correct spelling) for her pain.  She can not use ordinary toothpaste, she gets such a bad reaction.

I think you will find on this site others who can support you better on this, so wishing you well and hang in there as you are not alone.

    All the very best.

      Hi Littleme,

welcome to CFS group. I am recovered now and have been for many years from ME with multiple allergies. I reacted very badly to a wide spectrum of chemicals. I stile loath chemical scents because of the fromer reaction I suppose. There was one marketed under the name of Poison. I could not pass it in the street without being in trouble. I was so sensitive to dogs that i could not be in the same room as someone who had a dog at home. Smoked food was another no no for me. Eventually in desperation we moved house and painstakingly identified everything that upset me and then avoid them . Long after Inrecovered from ME I found we could reintroduce nearly all the things I could not previously tollerate.

I have posted my testemony in five different discussions on this group so you may come.across it. I do hope you find some ideas to help with your CFS and allergies. It takes a lot of care and persisence to make progress towards a more normal life.

    Hi littleme,

I was diagnosed with post viral fatigue , now CFS about 12 years ago. I take regular piriton for hay fever symptoms and itchy skin. It must help because if I don't take it I start coughing as I was with the flu in February and my nose blocks more. I hope you can sort it out with your tablets.

Thanks guys and girls smile it does help to know its not just me with all these freaky issues smile  I consider myself lucky as i get good periods between the relapses. When i say good i mean im not bed ridden/housebound, so i cant still have some sort of life all be it watered down.  I havent had a normal white cell count for 21 years.. my body always behavs as though i have an ongoing infection of some kind and my count is always very high.  Its an awfull condition that affects every aspect of being human.. i just wish they would pull their finger out and get testing sorted.. and finally get it characterised as there is still so much stigma attached to it. I have just taken out a new life insurance policy and was shocked to find CFS still listed with the mental ilness sad While Fibro is in with the phisical ones.. makes me very angry and sad at the same time.

Before I got sick, I already had pretty bad allergies, but more of the sinus and rhynitis type.  Once, I got sick, 50% of everything I put in body I'm allergic to.  I have to be careful, especially with new medications.  I've ended up in the hospital twice due to allergic reactions from medications.  I also am very careful about what is in my house.  I only a certain detergent so that my clothes don't give me a rash.  Almost all soaps will give me a rash.  So there is only one kind I buy that I know I won't have a problem with.  It goes on and on.  My poor husband has to be so careful when he shops.  Take care.
