allergy relief tablets to help blepharitis symptoms

Last night my eyes swelled up so much that in the morning my sister was concerned that it may be something more than blepharitis or that in any case an allergy relief tablet might help, thus I have just started a course of them, as I am sure in some ways blepharitis is an allergy based complaint, it is only my first day of taking the tablets, and I do intend taking them regularly to help me, the cheap version naturally as they are no different, but I wondered if anyone else had had any success with allergy relief medication for their blepharitis, I would be interested to know if I am on the right track, I suppose they can't do any harm, and no doctor or optician has recommended anything that you actually swollow for this complaint so I felt I may as well give it a try, any thoughts, anyone?  Fiona

I also drink them when I feel my eye rims inflammed and somewhat stops the inflammation and itchiness that comes with it.

HI Gabriela, that's good to know that you find it helpful, only on day one of my tablets but hopefully I will find the same in a day or two x

Hoping it helps for you .In my case i've been prescribed antihistimines for uriticiria rather than the eyes for over 13 yrs . When i had my eye consultation for the bleph i was asked if i could try going without the antihistimes as there was a thought that they MAY interfere with the immune system's response to fighting bleph . It MAY have been just because I'd been having to take them continually for so many years .

Hoping that it helps in your case though .

Hi David, I understand there are various problems with long term use as it can also affect your liver, or so the chemist lady warned me. I am just hoping that in the short term it will help me though as I'm also occasionally allergic to cats, although I love them to pieces, but sadly they often cause my eyes to itch furiously and I'm going over my nieces tomorrow and she has four!! Wish me luck. Fiona

Pollen dries mine out and as i live in the countryside with plenty of oil-seed rape in flower at present . Not good . check your car's pollen filter , don't direct the air up to the screen but have it directed to your feet , and if pos on a short journey , run on recirculated air mode .

Last september i had 4 days and  nights of being right on the coastline and had 4 days of near bliss with my eyes .Salt in the air maybe , and no dust ? Get the cat an orange jump suit ...lol

have you ever been prescribed antibiotics ? The consultant tried a 2 month course in my case . I honestly can't say that it worked though . He did say that in some cases it did help , but probably wouldn't so not to bank upon it happeneing .

Hi David, tee hee, my cats would love a jump suit!!  I am on the coast myself but sadly still suffer with the bleph, on anti biotics, been prescribed for many ailments but not my blepharitis.  I am about to take my second allergy relief tablet so hopefully it will make some difference, Fiona
