Hi all,

35, male, X-ray 6 weeks attached.

I am not 2 months post surgery and I can't increase WP, I am only doing 30% for the last 2 weeks since my cast was off.

I feel pain when I try to use one crutch. I am very disappointed and started to suspect the surgery alignment since most of the cases I watch online they started to walk norming after 2 months. Shall I be concerned and contact another doctor? I have done 2 PT and not improving the motion of my ankle. Is the pain I feel when i increate weight normal? sad

Hi kilanyworld. I am 5 months post surgery, and I still limp from time to time. On 1/26/18 surgery was performed on my dislocated/ fractured ankle. Hardware were fused to my tibula and fibular. As far as, not having the ability to walk, you do know that everyone heals differently.Don't beat yourself up. Just hang in there! I don't know the severity of your surgery.I believe the symptoms you are reporting is quite normal.Trust me, I go through depression pertaining to my slow healing process.I still go to p.t twice a week, and I am still experiencing pain / swelling. Good luck !

Don't rush yourself. My PT told me forums can be depressing and uplifting, either way,all the time. I see what I fondly call miracle stories. I had very severe break 3/13/18. I was very upset to see others improve by leaps and bounds quickly. I'm over it. I am now still in my CAM boot, docs orders. I still use a walker. Doc has me at 50% WB for 2 weeks, then 75%,then 100. My PT and I have decided that we will do what is comfortable, what pushes me,but does not cause pain. I have decided to be ok with my own progress, as long ss there is progress. You and your body know what you feel, and do activity as tolerated. Yes,it sucks not to be and feel like your whole, old self. But you will prevail. Rate your progress on your own scale,no one else's. You will see more improvement the more comfy you are as you progress your WB. But take the time you need, the time lines and time tables are very general. Everything varies by individual, hang in there. Dont let the frustration win.
