Almost 2 years on.

WOW I can't believe it has been almost 2 years since I began my journey into Hysterectomyville lol, It's a journey with ups and downs mostly ups as I am still here so that's a plus, a few downs but nothing too dreadful and not always sure if they are related to the op or if it's coincidence, like recurring cystitis, the jury is still out on that, my GP says it isn't related, however one thing that I know for sure is related is the change in shape of my lower tummy, have any ladies out there in hysterectomyville got this problem? I am also struggling to lose weight, I know I have said this before but before my op I could lose weight quite easily but now, any advice will be most greatfully recieved.

Love

I also eat healthily, I perhaps don't excercise quite as much as I should but I'm not sedentary either, I walk my dogs twice a day and do gardening and get on the treadmill a couple of times a week, I have cut sugar down drastically, strangely I don't miss it either but I still feel like Mrs Blobby sad.

    Hi, Phoebe!

I've done a bit of yoga in the past and will be slowly renewing some activity.   There's a pose that one can do called the "Plank."  Look for it on on line.  It really strengthens your core!

    Best of luck!  xxx

I will look that up Lynda, my eldest son does yoga regularly so I will pick his brains as well.

      Thanks xx

You're welcome.  The plank is not a yoga pose, but it's a good means of strengthening your core and tummy!

Hi Lynda, I'm sitting here chuckling to myself, I have just looked at this plank thingy, if (and that's a big IF) I could get down on the floor to do this, I'd never get up again LOL! I'm not quite as supple as I was 40 odd years ago, I will try to find alternatives, however I do very much appreciate your suggestion. xx

Hi, Phoebe, I'm glad you got a chuckle out of it!  smile  I am going to try it, if I can get down on my knees!  I'm taking glucosamine/condritin to try and counter achy muscles and joints caused by lack of estrogen.  The other day, I went to put my left knee up on a bed to get closer to a window to close it, and could barely stand it.  Then, was mopping up after a dog and almost had to call my husband to help me get up off the floor!  I'm 67, and didn't feel this way in January, but after my surgery and the medication, things have changed.

      Best to you, always! xxx

Hi Lynda, I hadn't thought about it but my knee got bad after my surgery too, I am now almost 64, I really do not want to have a knee replacement if I can help it, my ex-husband (we remain friends....mostly, lol) has had both knees done, I must get some glucosamine, I had forgotten all about that.

      Good luck doing the 'plank'.

      Hi, Phoebe,

Thanks for responding!  I can only take the plain glucosamine/condritin.  The high end stuff has too many "enhancements" mixed in and they make me nauseous.  By the way, if you do decide to try it out, you will need to take it some weeks before you feel the results.

I've been taking it a little over a week, and my muscles and joints do feel better.

      Lynda xx
