Almost 6 months post op hip replacement.....

Hello
Just wanting to thank and update this patient community that I found prior to my total right hip replacement. I was incredibly anxious leading up to the operation and lost a lot of blood on the operating table requiring blood transfusions. At times I felt that my recovery was slow. The emotional and mental impact of recovery and the operation was a surprise for me, there were times I was tearful and wondered if I had made the right decision.
Now 6 months post op, I can say I did make the right decision! Life is good, I experience NO pain and I am having no issues at all! I put this down in part to probably taking my recovery slowly.
I am walking further than I have in years! (I am 45). I am pulling boxes of my old high heels out of my wardrobe and am wearing them again! Nobody would have a clue I have had a THR. The transformation is like night and day. My family are delighted for me. For Mothers Day I decided we would go for a bush walk....I couldnt and wouldnt have done that in 7 years. Anyway I just wanted to post on here, its always good to hear some good news.

Great to hear. I'm also 6 months post op although at 72 rather older than you. i feel exactly the same as you. it's so very difficult now to even remember the constant dragging pain I experienced before the op. Amazing to have my life back again and to be totally pain free. The community here made such a difference, quelling my fears and giving constant encouragement. Thanks everyone.

Fantastic! Its always good to hear someone is pain free, I am 73 and had two hip replacements one was Dec 2018 the other was April 2019 , I am still recovering from both. Feeling very depressed because it seems like its never ending! However your message has cheered me up and gives me hope!!!! thank you hope you continue to be pain free and enjoy your life
