Almost at the 3 week mark stiffness now!

Hey All,

I'm almost at the 3 week mark and now I'm feeling the stiffness in my ankle. I still am in the half cast/splint and I can't wait until the stitches come out on Wednesday. My ankle is dying to move I can feel my tendon up my calf tighten and loosen up. Has anyone experienced the stiffness while still in the cast? I'm moving my toes frequently but this stiffness is bothersome.

When you get stitches out will they put you in a boot ?

I was in a cast for 2 weeks and then put in the boot which is just as heavy as the cast maybe heavier , but you can remove it.

Way better then the cast I wore it only when I went out but not around the house so my wound from stitches could heal

I am supposed to be going in aother cast for 3 more weeks why I have no clue but this uncomfortablity is killing me. My stitches wound needs to breathe my foot and ankle really wants to move around not necessary to walk just to be able to stretch would feel goodto me.

I know what you mean about wound breathing. My belief with flesh wounds is to dry heal. And salt bathing to assist healing. I was so relieved when plaster came off and I could visually monitor healing. Before you go to boot or weight bearing cast look up Even Up Shoe. And investment for your future.

Sorry to hear about you joining the ankle club!! I too went into another cast for 4weeks after getting my stitches removed. Once that one was removed I went into the boot for another 4weeks. It has all been hell!! 16 weeks dwn the line and it still as hurendus as day one. Pain pain pain. I'm using 1 crutch at the moment FWB but I do let the crutche take some of the weight due to pain. This is one hell of a journey. Hope yours is a easier road to recovery. Wish you luck. Sx

So you had surgery, did they put in plate and screws?

Tell your dr you want a boot not a cast

Maybe your insurance won't cover the

Boot? Not sure, ask questions, it's your

Body you know what you are feeling.

Some doctors use the one size fits all approach which is not necessarily right for everyone, don't be afraid to speak up

I'm going into my third week post surgery. I had my stitches taken out today and put in a hard cast .The doctors told me I would have wear the cast for two weeks then put in a boot. They also want to work on my range of motion also. I broken my ankle in three places and it's going to be a long possess. Rest and patience

Now is the time to order your Even Up Shoe to keep gait level when you go into boot. Research it now and you well know how vital it is to avoid secondary injury.
