Almost one year.....

Developed ETD March of 2016 have been to my GP and 2 ENT specialists who acknowledge the problem, but all say there's really nothing that can be done as we've exhausted all avenues of treatmet short of certain surgeries, that are not guaranteed to be successful. I have been seeing an Accupuncturist with some relief, but condition still exists and is more annoying, than painful. My GP has me on a 1 mg Xanax (my request) twice a day to relive the anxiety and calm my nerves and this helps quite a bit but it's still a daily annoyance. Any others have similiar cases such as mine ? Any suggestions, advice on what you have done to treat this condition. Only hope at this point is that it may completely disappear one day the same way it came on..... out of nowhere. Would like any feed back on this matter !

Jenny ,
?Thanks for your reply and concern. Had this once b4 in 2013 and a six pack regimen of prednisone ( steroid ) combined with an antibiotic cleared it up within a few days. Tried it again this time with no positive results. My primary symptom is a 24/7 fullness of air in my right ear only, No pain or ringing but is so annoying and makes me very tense. Hard to concentrate, easily distracted and in general not a nice guy to be hangin' out with. And this is from a very outgoing gregarious interacting with people kind of guy. Exhausted all avenues as stated b4 . and I'm currently havig a series of 12 accupncture treatments. Seems 2b helping but not quite sure yet. The Xanax has been a godsend, but would like to eventually wean off b4 I have another prpoblem on my hands with dependence Might even try hypnosis if I can find any evidence it would be effective.I'll keep you posted on any progress or breakthroughs if you'd like. Thanks again ....btw I'm a 63 year old caucasian male.... live in the USA in Trenton NJ.

Merlin, I'm so sorry your suffering w/this. I had it for 3 1/2 yrs and had the new balloon dilation surgery, and it fixed it. Have you looked into it. It may be an option. Good luck! Diane

Diana, I have seen your episode before. I have been suffering from ETD to some extent since 2012. Have you found any others who have had the surgery? I've had a hard time finding anyone else and would like to get multiple experiences rather than just the stats the doctor's office provides. I've heard sometimes it is not a permanent fix.

Hi Dominic, sorry u r having this problem. Yes, i have people contact me that have had the surgery. I'm sure they would be willing to talk w/you about their experience.

Hi Diane. I also saw your story on youtube and that prompted me to have a consultation with Dr Weeks, who performed your surgery. As a foreigner with no US health coverage it was (regrettably) going to cost me far too much to have eustachian tube dilation surgery done by him. I ended up having it done in France last year, but unfortunately the surgery made no difference to my chronic ETD, which I have now had for 2 and a half years (plus tinnitus). I am wondering whether this type of surgery can be repeated with a different result, or if once it has failed there's no second chance? Clearly if it works it can make a world of difference (as in your case) but there are no guarantees of success. I'm happy it worked for you though.

Hi Tony, I'm so sorry you are suffering with this. I'm not sure if i can answer your question. I know that the experience of the dr can make a big difference. I had a friend that had the procedure from a dr just learning and it was not successful. Did you get any relief from the surgery? I know there are no guarantees....and that i was very lucky...i wish i could be of more help.
