Alopecia Areata - How I got rid of it

I don't want to go into too much detail since having this condition wasn't a nice experience, and if you're reading this, you have it, and you know what its like. Anyway, I've had this condition twice--the first time lasted longer.

The first time i got it I was young so didn't have my own independence much to find something that works for me. The last time I had it was maybe 2 years ago.

The following is what made it grow back! :

1. DO NOT stress. The first time I had this condition I was severely bullied and it was truly and utterly an awful experience, one that I'll never forget. But the second time round I had learnt from the first time to just own it. Having it the first time actually built my personality. It taught me to be confident, to love yourself and to not care what people think. So anyway, just don't stress. Stay happy. DO NOT even think about it.

2. Stay hydrated and exercise. I was never so sporty as a kid, but exercise really, really helped. I think because it helps with circulation. And with water, drink plenty of it!! Water boosts everything.

3. Use light shampoos. By light, I mean ones with a minimum amount of chemicals- baby shampoos perfect. This just makes sure your hair isn't prone to damage

4. Oils help. Massage your scalp with olive oil (or almond if you wish, but olive is better). It improves circulation and is just best for the health of your hair (although hair is just dead tissue! but you get what I mean)

5. This is THE most important one after stress. Biotin. I only took this the second time round, and let me tell you, it made ALL the difference. I personally took https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/holland-barrett-biotin-tablets-1000ug-60007961 . But any biotin 1000mg should do the same thing. I cannot stress how much this helped, it was literally the cure.

Please take this advice, alopecia does not define us!! And you may be wondering why I'm uploading this information after two years. It's because I was diagnosed with PR a week ago and used this forum for help, so I thought I'd give back. I also think I would take multi vitamins and orange juice (to help the immune system) if I ever got it again. I certainly think alopecia is more of a deficiency than an apparent auto immune disease. And by the way, clinical treatment? Yeah... that didn't help in the slightest, it's your lifestyle that needs changing. In fact I think the countless ointments and creams they gave were a complete waste of time and energy and hope.

So finally, I'd say you should take all this advice on board, incorporate it into your lifestyle--its not much. But not stressing is definitely the most important, gfollowed by biotin.

I really hope this helped and I felt it my duty. Please remember, this will go away and it's not the death of you! YOU are amazing! x
