The last few days I have tried taking my pred. alternative days 7mg one day none the next. Every time I take the double dose I cannot sleep awake all night. Bit difficult as I have work the next day. Any suggestions 2 enteric coated 2.5mg and 2 1mg non coated.

I'm using about 13mg as my alternate day dose (still on the way down)and had noticed that I had difficulty getting to sleep that night if I'd been lazy and not taken it until later in the morning (after 9am). Since I imagine that you are up and about long before that (I'm self employed, working at home) I presume you have taken it much earlier than that!
It also seemed to be worse where I'd taken mainly enteric coated - they are absorbed further down the gut so there is a longer delay before the peak blood level is reached and, consequently even later inthe day. One suggestion in the literature is to take the enteric coated pills on an empty stomach 2 hours before a meal which speeds up their passage through the stomach - but that would mean setting the alarm earlier  though it then feels like a lie-in :D
When you changed from daily to every second day, did you slide the dose, i.e. reduce one day's dose and increase the other by the same amount until you got to 0 on one day? Though that's obviously more difficult at lower doses. And did you have a short time at each intermediate dose to settle down?
I have to admit to not having had too much trouble sleeping even when I was on 15mg per day - I think it had something to do with not having slept well for the previous few years because of the pain at night! I was catching up. I do occasionally have nights where it is difficult to get to sleep but it settles again.
Maybe you'll settle down after a while - most of us need an adjustment period everytime we change a dose.
Good luck,

My Rheumatologist does not advise ADT until you are on 10mg per day or below.
Also sometimes ADT does not work for everybody.
I cannot say more - as I no know more except as people we are all different and in general medicine is a 'scattergun' approach (or that is my way of explaining it) So what works for one, may not work for t'other.
Good Luck both of you.
EileenH - see you 11th & 12th?
