Always need a wee!!!

Posted , 5 users are following.

I have recurring UTIs and two weeks ago I went to the doctor and was put on nitrofurantoin, which usually clears it up in 3/4 days. The infection seemed to go but I still need a wee constantly. I went to the doctors again and they put me on another weeks course of trimethoprim but still no luck!

It's so frustrating because every time I go I instantly need to go again, does anyone have any experience of this or know why it's happening?? Please help!xxxx

Hard to say for sure, as it could be a lot of things, from the antibiotics you could have delveloped a yeast infection, this gives off this symptom.  You could have an irritation in the uretha from drinking a lot of water and wiping causing inflamation this too will give the urge to pee, or there still could be a small amount of bacteria left in the bladder from uti that doesn't show up on the urine dip test. The last think it could be is you have a resistant bacteria meaning it is hard to kill off with the antibiotics.  Not a fun feeling that's for sure.

Thank you for your reply. Yes such a frustrating feeling, would there normally be other symptoms with a yeast infection? I think it may be that it's irritated from the infection but I would have thought it would have cleared up after two weeks!

Hi; I am just finishing a course of antibiotics for a uti..this will be my second dose in 3 weeks, I still feel its not cleared up, sore back, pressure in my pelvic area, and like you, wanting to pee often, I am so sick of it, I know soon as I stop the meds it will come back.dont know what to do, taking these all the time cant be good for our bodies...D-Mannose or Azo is supposed to be good, so I might try these..if you find something that works, let me know. xx

Have you had any luck? I came off my second week of antibiotics and was still in lots of discomfort so my doctor gave me Vesicare which is supposed to help an overactive bladder but it really hasn't helped! have you tried azo yet?

No. didn't try azo yet,.finding it hard to get it...if you have stinging, when you pass urine, a spoonfull of bread soda in lukewarm water ,disolved well.and drink every half hour, after the third one, the stinging usually is gone..

it could be cycitis you have, or overactive bladder...my GP  told me to hold off from going for as long as I could, you have to train the bladder to go less often...but if its causing you discomfort, then you need to go back to your GP and explain..let me know how you get on..xxxx

I'm having the same exact problem .! Very frustrating. I've been on three different antibiotics and still feel like I have a uti . I have to pee constantly . At this point I don't know what to do either . I feel like the antibiotics are pointless . I hope you find your solution . This is not fun !

I just still wonder when being on so many antibiotics and no recovery, if what you are experiencing is an actual UTI.  There are so many other reasons to experience UTI symptoms.  The best way to find out after cultures come back negative, is to get a pelvic ultra sound to make sure that nothing is pressing on the bladder.  Vaginal infections can cause UTI symtoms, vulva atrophy can cause this, inflammed uretha, endometriosis and so on.  Perhaps seeing a urologist for further testing, you could have an over active bladder and may have to cut out some things from the diet.  I personally think being on antibiotic after antibiotic can make the infections return as you are wiping out all good bacteria making you prone to more infections.  A good probiotic needs to be implemented, cranberry, d-mannose, and drinking pleanty to flush yourself out which I am certain that is what everyone is doing, because when you take antibiotics for UTI you need to take them with A LOT of water.

I've been doing everything I possibly can. I'm so tired of water but that's all I've been drinking. Nothing is helping me. I'm going to call my doctor again to get further evaluation. The results did come back as a UTI but after two weeks on 3 antibiotics , I still shouldn't feel this pain . I really hope that this goes away and this won't be a lifetime thing .

Yes me too! I'm so worried that I'm going to have it forever, this week I'm going to try and get referred to a urologist. I kind of feel like my bladder just isn't emptying sad let me know what your doctor says!
