sometimes it take longer to recover from a sprain than it takes to recover from a fracture.

Be sure and see an orthopedic specialist. Don't do anything with that ankle/tendons until he says you can. It can get so much worse.

Xray is not for your case, you will need a MRI, Be sure and see an orthopedic.

Meanwhile stop any kind of exercising completely.

Definitely get an MRI...and fight for it! I started seeing my OS in September I think and was in the boot for about 4 weeks. Then he said boot for 2 more weeks...and PT. At that point I was like, I need an MRI and he kept putting it off and putting it off until just now! I just had it done on Friday, and what did it show? A torn ligament! We could've seen that 2 months ago if he had listened to me...but he wanted to go through insurance pre-authorization and stuff like that, but my insurance would have done that in a heartbeat. So moral of the story, DON'T WAIT!

I would stop exercise until it feels better, sometimes it can make it worse and take longer to heal.
