Am i being dramatic about my cramps?

I've had really bad cramps for the last 6 years of the 9 years I've had my period. I've been begging my mom to get me on birth control for most of those 6 years but she's convinced it will reduce my fertility, which is scientifically shown to not have any links. She says that she also had cramps at my age but she would just sleep it off for 2-3 days and I'm just being dramatic but sometimes it hurts too bad to even hide in public and I'd say I'm fairly good at masking pain. I also am a woman trying to succeed in a field dominated by men so I can't let my "womanly problems" get in my way.

First of all, the fact that she puts my fertility above my pain disturbs me because it makes me feel as if I am useless as a woman if I can't birth a child, but I suppose that's a social issue. I'm also fairly certain that if the medicine wasn't called birth control, she wouldn't be so against it. I am an adult now and can obviously go get my own birth control to regulate these problems, but am I being dramatic? Should I just deal with the pain or something? I guess I'm asking what I should do?
