Am I getting Alzheimer's

Some of you may remember me from last year when I got married and questioned whether I should put my poor fiancé through the trauma of Polymyalgia . I am now on 60 mls every 2 months, reduced from 80. Sine reducing I am losing my hair, bruise easily and now can't remember words. Hey I am ex BBC journalist and I think quite intelligent. Lately I just can't remember words. My poor husband.

I'm 52 and working full time with a brain like a seive!! I forget the most innane words at times, and can't remember what I'm doing half the time.
I know it's the pred!

Like the others I think it is most likely a combo of disease and pred. It WILL get better.
In the meantime - make the most of giant thingumbybobs and polywhatsits!

Thanks everyone. It's good to know it,s not just me and it will improve if I can get off these horrible steroids.

  Hilary - they are not horrible steroids: they are preventing you going blind first and foremost but also reducing the risks of a load of other things. Without them you would be far less.
  I know it is difficult - but learn to embrace them.

  I do know Eileen but I was ok for the first year and now since the increase with GCA I don't sleep and am permanently tired, am losing my hair, bruise and bleed at the slightest knock and now my sharp memory is going. I haven't been to my Spanish class for 8 weeks because of Easter and on Friday my teacher accused me of not doing any work. I had but just couldn't recall it. I have another class tomorrow and have spent about 6 hours this week studying but however much I do I just forget. Methinks I am wasting time on lessons.

  It IS the increase - and this is a new normal. Again.
  It will be easier when you are in Spain - that is the way to learn a new language at our age. You will be fine - but it wouldn't be the time I was wasting that bothered me, it would be the money. But I am mean
