Am I hypertensive?

Posted , 4 users are following.

I've been measuring my blood pressure because it was high. For three days

i had the values

day 1: 140x80

day 2: 150x100

day 3: 130x90

I am 25 yo and a little overweight...

95 kg, 1,70m

Sometimes, when i'm in home, it gets 120x100, 140x90, 140x10...

I went to the doctor and he said, just with my 3 first values, he said that

i'm gonna need to take the pills for all my life, because I have cronic hypetension... I asked some nurses and

they said that I am not hypertensive yet, but pre-hypertensive. Changing my lifestyle could help me control my blood presure without any pills.

I am in panic right now. I don't wanna take these pills forever, you know?

Is the doctor right concluding that? By the way, he is not a cardiologist, the is a kind of general clinic.

I can't eat, I am not sleeping...

I am very anxious because of this problem, taking the drugs forever you know?

I am doing exercises 3 times week and a low caloric diet.

My Life style? Well, I am a music student. I spend most of the day practicing piano and other stuffs. I like it but i'm kinda disapointed because of this. I am thinking quitting the college and Just stay in home.

My blood pressure is always around 14x9, 14x10 and 14x11. I just would like to know if with these values and the ones I listed above, can I be considered hypertensive?

Can you guys help me?

Thanks....

Your weight maybe part and weight loss should help to lower it a little but not a lot. Discuss with your parents any health issues that they have or their parents may have or had. Some things are inherited from your parents and you need to have this information. Go on with your life if you need to take a couple of pills to lower your hypertension issue its ok. I'd ask for a referral to a cardiologist so you can have other tests to make sure nothing else is going on.

Normal BP for adult would be Systolic 110-140 mmHg Diastolic 60-90mmHg. IOne off  bp monitoring would not diagnose hypertension. You should try to get it  in the morning then afternoon then in the evening to determine what time do you usually have high bp. BP is elevated from mid afternoon to late evening. Try to go on low fat low sodium diet.Exercise 30 minutes for 5 days a week.Try to avoid stress.Strenous exercise can elevate your bp if done incorrectly seek medical advice before engaging into any exercise.

It would be wise to seek second opinion.

    hope this helps

    Hey Guys.

I've been doing some research, and I found out that losing weight can actually lower the blood presure by itself. Doing some exercise 3 times a week (all that I have time for), almost no salt and basically eating fruits, rice...  I already lost like 6 kg (13 ponds) in like 2 weeks. My blood pressure reached 13x9 today, 12x10 a few days ago, but I'm not sure if its the pills that are lowering it. I mean, seems like the pills are not making any effect, because I've been get values like this before I start tooking them, 15 days ago.

The only difference is that I'm trying to get calm when I do my BP measures. By the way, every time i got values above 140, I was actually nervous. Even after days taking the pills, my BP started getting even higher (15x9,15x10 and so)!

Like I said the nurses told me that these are a pre-hypertensive values, meaning that I'm not hypertensive yet (14x8 was the first measure), but I am worried because the doctor said that I already was, you know? That just doesn't make any sense!
