Am I in the clear yet?

I'm on day 9 of my first OB and day 7 of being on acyclovir as well as other home remedies (tea tree oil, epsom salt baths, lyserine), and I have been feeling better.

I'm at that last stretch where I'm getting a little ancy bc I know I'm almost done with my first OB, but I still have three sores remaining. One of the sores is the largest and it extends along the side of my outer labia. Right now it's white with a red outlining.

What do sores usually look like when they are at the stage of being healed?

I'm thinking it may take about that amount of time for me too. As of yesterday it's been a week and I'm starting to feel better. I'm just waiting for this major sore/ulcer and two smaller ones to heal. So maybe by the end of this week I'll be sore-free.

Thanks for the advice on the alcohol. I haven't had any in a while and I'm okay with waiting longer. I do wonder though. Can just one glass of alcohol trigger an OB? and does it matter what type of alcohol (vodka, tequilla, cider, beer)?

I seen to break out all the time Eben on meds, but not real breakouts.. Just symptoms .. Bit let me go out drinking till the wee hrs and not take my meds till the next morning.... I will have an ob no doubt w no signs it is coming. Just drinking alcohol doesn't do it to me... But getting hammered and staying up drinking till 4-5 and not taking my pill before I go out, I will. My iuume system sucks though, cause I have autoimmune disorders

I would say when the reddness around them doesn't look as angry, they appear to be shrinking and people mention them crusting, but that's never happened to me. Mine will look like ulcers still and they literally just seem to shrink and just don't hurt as much.. I didn't have any of the crustation everyone seems to refer to. The white ulcerated part will be start to be replaced w a a flesh colored indentation... Does it still hurt a lot?

Yea I haven't seen any crustation even in any of the other sores that I had. It seems to me that they've also just shrunk and gone away but that was when I was not able to even look at them so I don't know what they looked like.

My sore right now does look like an ulcer so I think the white is an indication of it healing itself back to skin. It does still sting and hurt, but today I've been putting on tea tree oil diluted in virgin oilve oil more frequently than I have the other days.

I'm able to sit on my butt which I wasn't able to before so that's definitely a good thing. I was just wondering if I should be seeing any scabs or crustation because I haven't seen any at all. But I think the white layer is a sign of healing. At least I hope so.

Like I said.. Mine didn't do that... They shrunk, like a puddle drying up. I guess that's a good thing, because it means our sores don't weep or bleed like I've heard of others doing. Glad you're feeling better.

I've only had one OB so far, and mine didnt scab either. They just kind of got smaller and went away slowly... but everyone's different. Being able to sit on your bum is a good sign you're on the way to being better smile

I wonder if the no scabbing is due to the antiviral medication and if we weren't on it, of it would scab of the body were to do the healing on its own... Upping my valtrex to 500mlgs twice a day has caused some massive headaches, facial pain and the worst of it, jaw pain.. Like TMJ.. At first I didn't connect it and thought I had a tooth ache and scheduled a dentitst appt.. Then I put two and two together, as it was intermittent and would jump in locations of where it hurt more, even spreading to my ear. I used to get bad headaches when I first started taking valtrex everyday.. Lasted about a month.. The headaches aren't as intense anymore since I started taking more last week (which is when my jaw pain started) , but the jaw pain is still pretty bad. Bad enough, that I'm taking 800mlgs of motrin twice a day. My liver is taking a pounding I swear it! Good thing I didn't go out last week and... Need to take it easy this weekend too.
