Am I using this nail lacquer correctly?

Hello, I've just joined. I've been using Amorolfine Nail Lacquer for the past week. However when I looked at the information on patient.info I saw that I have misunderstood the directions. I've been applying the lacquer every day, and it seems the advice is weekly or at the most twice a week. Worse I may also have misunderstood the files. I've been filing the surface of the nail, not the end! I assumed that I should file away the glossy surface of the nail so that the lacquer can penetrate into it.

Have I got this wrong? I'd appreciate advice please.

And I'd also appreciate hearing from any others using this treatment. In particular how successful it's been in restoring the nail or nails to health.

Thanks.

    hi. i've used amorolfine.

and yes, think you are supposed to use it only once a week. doesn't matter if you've used it daily up till now - just switch to weekly from now on.

as for which part of the nail to file: i filed the entire surface of the nail, which sounds like you have done. and then after a few months i focussed on the part where the fungus was. not sure how severe your infection is, but i've been using it on my toe nail for 14 months. at first i thought it was a waste of time but gradually, after about 9 months or so i began to realise that the fungal patch was shrinking and eventually i seem to have filed it off. so you may have to be quite patient.

    good luck!

Thanks for your response. I'm encouraged to hear that you eventually got results. There are two nails in my case. One is very flaky and disintegrates as I file it. The other has a smooth surface, the infected area is the nail bed underneath. From what you say I would guess I'm correct in filing the entire surface of both nails. Unless anyone else has different advice I'll keep on doing this.

      Thanks.

well if one nail is already flaky that's a good sign.

don't overdo the filing though - in case you hurt yourself. the laquer will work.
