I have high blood pressure  but controlled by maintenance medicines. How safe is it for me to go up 3500 m up by train to the highest peak?

Hi Yoyie2944 I spent three weeks touring Peru last year and spent several days in altitudes up to 3800 m, which didn't really affect me apart from a little breathlessness when climbing. I am 76 and have a median level BP of 150/90 with spikes up to 190/107 and take felodipine and moxonidine twice a day. I don't know your age or statistics but a train journey up to 3500m wouldn't seem too high a risk to me, but then we are all different of course, I hope this helps you make a decision.

It shouldn't be a problem, unless you have low oxygen levels, have a nice trip!
