Amiodarone - comments about/thoughts on?

Has anyone been prescribed Amoidarone? Have been advised to go on this for a two months wait at which point will be having another cardioversion (previously had four shocks in one session, but did not put into sinus) as it apparently makes success more likely. Does anyone know how much more likely (% wise)?. It seems to be a pretty potent drug and has numerous unpleasant side-effects. Any comments from users would be welcome. Many thanks.

Hi Jane. I'm new to this forum and recently made my first entry regarding the side effects of Amoidarone. From the first day I took the drug to address recently diagnosed A-Fib, I have been sick. I am constantly nauseous with feel tenderness in my stomach. I feel like I'm functioning at 50% capacity--like I'm in haze. The drug has affected my appetite and I've lost 10 pounds in 10 days.
My cardiologist said once you begin taking this drug, you have to commit to two
months for the drug to embed itself in your system.
I have A-fib episodes once or twice daily. I can feel the fluttering sensation which
last less than 30 seconds. I take my pulse and it jumps briefly to about 115 and returns to around 90-95. Prior to taking Amoidarone, my heart rate was never far above 75-80.
Did these side effects ever subside for you? I can't imagine feeling this way for 2 months. A doctor friend suggested I try cannabis to ease the nausea. Will
give that a shot.
And what exactly is cardioversion? Is that like ablation?

I am having cardoron 100 mg (Amiodarone) once every day in the morning.Since I was often having palpitations lasting a few minutes of and on during the day I was advised Amiodarone 200 mg three times a day.Fortunatel the palpation stopped from the very next day, though the action of Amiodarone starts working only after 45 to 60 days. After taking the Amiodarone for a month I stopped the medicine. A few days after the palpitations started again. The electro physiologist advised me to start the Amiodarone 200mg morning and night.Later reduced to 100 mg one in the morning.I am fine now.
The problem with Amiodarone is that it is the best available medicine for Af,but with some side effects. The pulse rate will drop and with the BP medicines and blood thinners, beta blockers, which I take, the BP is 130/70 pulse 50 to 65.
The main side effect is thyroid which I got now for which I take thyronorm 50mg every morning on empty stomach.
I am a heart patient with 5 stents and I don't have the problems stated by you. One way to feel better with these medicines is to have at least 45 minutes of walk every day.
I also have some health issues at times, not connected with Amiodarone, but may be due to the effect of many other medicines I am taking post the angiplasty.
Please check with you cardologist, preferable an electro physiologist who directly handles Palpitations/
