    Hi Maureen,

Totally safe!  I take sertraline as well as amitriptyline 10mg for sleep.  I was at 100mg sertraline with it.  I’m now at 50mg but nonetheless it’s not a concern.

If you’re worried about seratonin syndrome it’s too littlexa dose to matter.  (Can take 10-20mg amitriptyline).

I didn't know amitriptyline was for sleep, and you say it's safe? I'm going to talk to my doctor and see if he can put me on it with my epilepsy, I hope it's safe, thanks Tammy1234.

Hi Timothy - it’s also a SSRI like sertraline used for depression but in small doses can be used for sleep.  It is also a good pain Med as it dulls the nerve pain receptors.

It also doesn’t leave you with that groggy morning feeling.   The first time I took it was years ago for back pain and found it not only helped my back but it helped me sleep better.

      Good luck to you!

I'm getting really worried about this Zoloft, I've already lost 22 pounds in less than a month, and only been on 50 mg for a month also it seems like my stress and agitated feeling's are starting to come back, and the reason why I'm so worried is it's making me feel like I'm going to have a seizure, and I'm diagnosed with tonic clonic seizures, and it feels like those meds might start clashing with each other, and my Neurologist put me on the Zoloft, without telling me anything about it, including it is an ssri, so all I hear now is how hard it is to get off of Zoloft and it, I don't really trust or buy what doctors are telling me anymore, and he said , "if you don't like it then just stop taking it" he didn't tell me about the long side affects, or weening off the medication. So now I feel stuck. Do you happen to know anything about this?

Even if you don’t have an appetite focus on nutrition-I make sure I have a smoothie each day.  (Protein powder, spinach, flax, frozen fruit and water)

The protein is flavoured so the smoothie actually tastes good!

I would urge you to express your concerns with your Doctor.  If he/she is not supportive then I’d be searching for a new Doctor.

      Best of luck!

I wish I could help, but I've never heard of that other med your doctor prescribed for you, good luck on finding the right info on it, cause we do have to be careful when taking Zoloft. God bless.

    Hi

I take 25mg of Amitriptyline and 100mg Sertraline.

Taking the Amitriptyline is the worse thing I have ever done. I was prescribed it for IBS 3 years ago.

I absolutely hate the things. I have put on a stone in weight. Everytime I try and cut down on the Amitriptyline the side effects are awful. I can't sleep I get really nervous and panicky. That's only cutting down from 25mg to 20mg.

I definitely don't recommend taking these awful tablets unless you really have to.

They have completely ruined my life. I blame my doctor for prescribing these awful tablets.
