Been taking 10mg a night for about 6 months or so now. My eye sight has changed n the dizziness my anxiety is worse. I take it to help with mirgranes caused from stress. I have had floaters for about a year which was diagnosed pvd but now I'm wondering could the anitriptyline be causing my eye problems? I'd like to come off it

Hi, I don't think the PVD has anything to do with how your feeling. The floaters are a pain I know. I have them too,but they should not interfer with your daily life. Now, I take 20mg amitriptyline for migrains too. 10mg is a very sm dose. Are they helping the migrains? I think it's anxiety that is making you dizzy. You should be on a antidepressant for you anxiety. I would get dizzy from my anxiety, and a whole bunch of other symptoms. Were you dizzy before amitriptyline. I take Cymbalta for anxiety, and amitriptyline for migrains. The amitriptyline is not causing floaters. We get them as we get older, unfortunately, and you have a  detatchment at the back of your eye, which most people don't notice, but some of us get floaters, and, or flashes of light, Just annoying.

I'm only 35 the eye specialist I saw said I was young to get pvd and now it's all I think about every single thing with my eyes I feel and see . My going to see the doctor at some point . I thought maybe it's anxiety but why does it feel so real? What if it's not and something serious is wrong? It's taking over my life I'm so scared of having pvd I don't want to go blind

Hi Numb, I took 10mg for about 8 months for ocular migraines. In that time my eyesight definitely changed. I went to opticians many times and changed my prescription to stronger lenses. My anxiety and dizziness also increased significantly so I came off the drug. However, I have been off Amyitriptyline for about 6 weeks and my anxiety isn't improving but I think it's just me waiting for another attack even though I haven't had one for a while. I will be going back to the doctors for a review.

How did yours change? I feel like being in sunlight is awful. I have to wear my glasses more than just driving just because it helps me see. I'm scared to come off it in case it all comes back ten times worse. It's the constant thinking about it all day everyday tht makes it worse

My vision has become more blurry. I also have to wear sunglasses wherever I go. Driving at night is almost impossible because of oncoming headlights. I have had to change the brightness of my computer screen. I have more floaters too. I have tried explaining o people how anxious I feel because I am always frightened that another migraine attack is about to happen even though I haven't had one in about 3 months.

It's so hard isn't it. My friend had really bad migraines aswell I opted for amatyripdline and he went for beta blockers and he's not had a single headache migrane since taking them. U could try those? I no it's the anxiety that will make them come back so I have to try and keep it under control it's just so hard I think I still get them just without the headache if that makes sense. Which is rubbish. I've tried wearing sun glasses but I can't see when I have them on. I think I'm going to speak to doctor this week and I'm seeing optiction Wednesday anyway so I'll see what he says aswell.

Good luck with opticians. I have made a doctor's appointment today. Maybe I will ask about beta blockers. Fed up with feeling anxious!

i was on AMITYRPTALINE for about 20+ years & I personally hated taking the Drug.

It helped me sleep ( TOO MUCH) I was sleeping my life away & I feel I have left out so much of my life. Too many side effects from the drug but, I tried & tried to come off them without success. I am off them now but, I am still struggling with the terrible side affects which I believe can last years.

My GP was so pleased that I asked her to assist me in coming off them, she has helped me but, I still awake in the middleof the night & feel like going back on AMITRYPTALINE, they are so addictive. As regards to your eyes I really do not know, all I can say is I have irreversal damage to my eyes, whether caused by AMITRYPTALINE I do not know?? but, if I had my 20+ years back again I personally would not reccomend them.

So, it is up to you & your GP to decide on this,

Ps I have had floaters for years.

Hello Numb.Thats how I felt at times.

Please do yourself a favour & ask your Doctor to put you on another  tablet , Amitryptalne are very addictive & the side effects arre terrible & in my case very  DANGEROUS.

I was on 25mg twice aday then down to 10mg per day but, it has taken me nearly 17 years to come off them , it is so hard & the withdrawal symtoms are terrible, I am still feeling the effects of coming off them & its been about ten weeks now sinnce I came off them with the help of my Doctor.

      Take care Jackie

Numb, I think you have major anxiety, and panic. You should be on a antidepressant. I think you get so worked up over this med stuff. Get a grip dear, and take an active role in getting better.

Sweetie Numb, It is no good waiting & getting yourself in a panic, I do understand you please beleive me, but you must go & see your Doctor A.S.A.P.   I do realise that life is hard & quite difficult for you at a time like this & you definately need alot of help & support.

I have been through alot myself & the one thing that no one can tell you  is calm down or get a grip because when you are ill like you are right now those words will not help you. However you are helping yourself by saying I am not well & admitting to yourself you have a problem. Please ask family for help, love & support plus Please see your DOCTOR URGENTLY because you definately need help.

Please take care, speak to your Doctor  & get better.

      Jackie
