dry mouth is common. what dose are you on? I've been taking it for 12 years following a spinal cord injury. I was on 50mgs but I gradually reduced it to 20mgs and I'm ok now.

File size is too bigthink 20mg is good for spinal nerve pain never thought of the side effects as the pros were always beter then waking up at two played around 10mg15mg was silly breaking the things seemed a tad silly , not never been in no pain so never thought to much on side effects . think there a god send for nerve pain got a numb foot as bit of nerve damage i surppose over the years stenosis crushing on the spine causing more blunting no one wants to be waking up at two of a morning 10mg was skimming it a tad cooked me noodles some times think can i get away from the foot waking me as the side effects of knocking you out and waiting for your brain to wake up of a morning is a weigh up as well dry throat but kind of got used to the dry throat as thought woohoo not long and will be asleep silly but thats my normal routine two codien 30mg have shoulder impindgement so it does i think work on that to brain drain in the morning to get your self going notice all the side effects people say but me i like to sleep never noticed to much if i stopped them either as i only stop them when i have been in more pain so i have upped the codien and that knocks me out to sleep to so who know whats worse codien or amatriptylin doesnt really help does it if you dont have nerve pain as you cant play around kick my self if i had 10mg and should of had 20mg as they take few hours to kick in so thats like 4 oclock and it was never till 2:30-3:00 i would think take a pill 😃 nerve pain great fun

Yup, as me to the dry mouth list.

But for those who do take it have you tried nortriptyline instead.?

I changed to it and it seems to offer the same good points in relief but it has reduced the dry mouth symptoms by a massive factor. It happens a little but no where near as bad.

    Best wishes

as this got the same amount of side afects because I had really bad head aches and also felt depressed when I took amitriptyline

I had been prescribed amitriptyline for several years and never had a good time with its side effects. Sadly that meant I was taking it on and off and never got the benefits from it.

However since being on Nortriptyline for several months I have never had a headache, my mouth and throat is hardly dry and, this I'm most pleased about, my overall mood seems more positive.

It has helped somewhat with my neuropathic pain as well, I have chronic pain issues.

As a person who has had years of trouble with both anxiety and depression it is rare for me to attribute a small upturn in my mood to a tablet.

Of course we are all individuals and what suits one might not benefit another.

      Worth considering though.

      Best wishes

thank you for your reply I will mention this to my doctor next time I go I've got a very painful back problem and I have suffered with anxiety and sometimes depression since I was a teenager

I have a chronic back problem, for many many years.

Anxiety at times for me can also be quite debilitating. Depression can be an issue as well.

I can remember the first time that I had a panic attack, at 19. Many decades later and here I am still very much affected by aspects of anxiety.

I have realised that it is something to manage rather than cure.

      Best wishes.
