Amitriptyline coming off immediately rather than taper

Hi I am new to the forum

Have been on Ami for about 4 years was at 25 for 3 years for migraine, jaw pain and sleep issues.

I increased it last year due to some stressors and I have put on a lot of weight since then. I have been dieting and going to the gym nothing was working so I went to my GP and he advised this medication is notorious for weight gain.

I seemed to be ok on 25 but not 50

Anyway I dropped down by half the last two nights crappy sleep but managing ok. I am thinking of just stopping altogether and seeing how I go. The weight has been worse than anything for my MH

Whatever dose you're on, you'll get side effects.

But if you want to get off the meds, you must put the side effects to one side, and focus on HOW

    to get off it.

The answer with most meds is to wean slowly and that way you will in time get off the meds.
