Amitriptyline/Elavil

Hello from the Midwest in the United States 🙋‍

I'm curious if anyone taking this medication (Amitriptyline) has experienced side effects & if so did they subside or did you have to change medications?

I was started at 25mg & I'm now up to 100mg. I was prescribed this for nerve PAIN (I also take gabapentin) INSOMNIA, ANXIETY & DEPRESSION. At first I felt like it was helping, but couldn't sleep, so my dosage was increased.

*Side effects that I've notice is

• Dry Mouth

• Breast enlargement (not painful)

• Constipation (which I already had)

• Urine retention (very odd)

• Weight gain of "25 Pounds"!

~ Luckily, for the 1st time in my life, I needed to gain, but I DON'T want to continue gaining weight.

*** Has anyone gained weight when they first started this medication and then retain that weight or did you continue to gain?

*** Anyone experience urine retention?
