Amitryptiline after fissurectomy ?

hi all

i had a repeat fissurectomy with Botox on 12 days ago , but unfortunately am still in a moderate amount of pain, particularly after BM. i spoke to my CRS who was disappointed and surprised to hear this since he had observed that the fissure was already smaller than the first time he had operated.

He hypothesised that there might be some nerve damage causing the pain, and so it might be worth trying Amitryptiline 10mg as a painkiller. I'm 2 minds as to whether to just be more patient and see if it settles down of its own accord.

Any of you have experience of using this? effectiveness? side effects?

thanks

martin

since it's been less than 2 weeks since your surgery, and your fissure is already getting smaller, that's a good sign.

my fissure took 6-7 weeks to heal after fissurectomy and LIS. but took over 5 months for the pain to go.

the nerves need time to heal, so i would be patient.

i've never had the drug but if you really can't tolerate the pain, then take it. your doc knows best.

    hope this helps.

I take Amitryptiline for a different problem. Although I take 150mg. It does work but takes a while for them to kick in
