Amlodipine besylate and nightmares

Posted , 3 users are following.

After 4 years, my Olmesartan-Hctz was not working to keep my blood pressure in the recommended range.

My doctor prescribed amlodiplne besylate 5 mg last week. Almost  immediately, I noticed I was feeling more tired as if I were sedated,in a daze.

Now that I’m into my sixth day, I’ve had some crazy crazy nightmares.

Two days ago and also yesterday, my wife said that I seemed very strange and different, disoriented and not aware of what’s going on around me especially when I was driving.

I was getting confused on routine routes that I’d driven many times.

Yesterday, she took the precaution to drive us back home because she said I seemed unaware and  showed signs of slowing cognition.

so, for now I’m trying 1/2 of my pill to see i feel better.

    Hi William

I wouldn't hesitate to stop this med if you don't improve. There are other hbp pills you can take other than this one that caused my sister lots of I'll effects.

    Wish you well

My advice to you is go and see your doctor immediately and get your medication changed. The side effects of this drug are horrendous, I was on it for nearly a year in which time I suffered severe pains in my head, ears, and eyes, lack of concentration, disturbed sleep, memory problems, anxiety, physical coordination problems, lethargy, problems with my eyesight and tinitus. I didn't realise how bad I felt until I was working away from home for 10 days and forgot to take my tablets with me, after 3 days off this horrible drug I started to feel better. When I returned home I went to see my doctor who immediately took me off Amlodipine. After 3 months off this poison I am starting to feel like my old self, sadly my eyesight I fear is permanently damaged and I still have tinnitus. There should be an independant inquiry into the side effects of this drug (not by the drug companies) there are far too many people worlwide suffering from its use.

Im glad to hear you are off this med William. It seems the longer you take it the worse the side effects are. It should definitely be taken off the market. The Netherlands have banned its use. My sister is almost blind from having above average eyesight for her age.

    I wish you both well.
