Been on Amlodipine for 13yrs for high blood pressure with all the side effects so I have stopped it at last. My GP has put me on Doxazosin 4mg. It seems to be working but I will keep you informed. By the way I am 72yrs old. Plus I Have started taking omega 3 capsules.

I am on Amlodipine and am hopefully going off of it on Thursday. My ears ring all the time and when my blood pressure is high, it is louder. I also am dizzy. Feel better when I am sitting. No way to live. Thanks for mentioning your new drug. What were your side effects? Good luck with your new drug. I am also on
Carvedilol.

The ringing in my ears was untolerable from the amlodipine - it took at least a week on a new med for the tinnitus to be tolerable. I'm on Lisiniprol HCTZ 10 12.5 and my blood pressure is finally in normal ranges average 120/80. I have been on this for about 3 weeks. It only took 1 pill to lower my blood pressure significantly. On the amlodipine, my blood pressure averaged 140/90 - but wasn't controlled very well, so fluctuated a lot - so not happy with that medication.

was reading your change of meds from amlodipine to Lisiniprol with water pill and just want to tell yo a short story about what Lisiniprol hctz caused for my husband but doesnt mean it can cause the same for you or others. His bloodwork was showing he was going into kidney failure and was recommended to see a specialist and also a urologist. The outcome was not to alarm you or anyone else stop Lisiniprol hctz immediately putting you into kidney failure. Within 2 weeks of stopping new bloodwork was done and kidney functions back to normal. This isnt to alarm you this could happen but have bloodwork done regularly to monitor kidney function with this med. Read up about it

Yes... itching, or Urticaria as its called, was a side effect for me when I was on Amlodapine. It was so bad sometimes it felt like I had ants crawling all over me
I stopped taking the Amlodopine and it took about 3 months to leave my system and for the itching to greatly reduce (never QUITE gone completely as I still get it occassionally but never so severely as when I was on the Amlodopine).
The only thing that helped me then (and now when a mild itching rears its ugly head again) was taking an anti-histamine tablet which works to stop the itching for me within about 20-30 mins. I don't buy the expensive branded anti-histamines like Piriton but the much cheaper Cetirizine tablets that I buy very cheaply online and are equally as good as Piriton

I reacted so badly on Doxazocin. Had to change it after only a week. Then started Ibersatan which turned me into a zombi. A few weeks ago I started on Amlodipine. Other than the swollen legs, I have really felt much better. Until today. In an exam, I got blackout moments, severe fatigue. I couldn't write..the easiest test I have ever encountered. And I had extrene fatigue during revision, which I had put down to preparation. It is only today, that I realised that black out periods, lack of concentration, sleepiness and even shaking were due to amlodipine. We are basically taking medication which treats pressure but affects other functions of our system and the manufacturers hide all these untoward effects away from us.

Hi John I was on amlodipine for a while and I felt absolutely terrible it didn't really control my blood pressure and I was irritable and not very nice to be around then again I didn't feel like I was normal. anyway came off the amlodipine tried losartan and had an allergic reaction to that one and ended up in hospital was put on atenolol that lowered my blood pressure but it took my heart rate too low down so I was taken off that one .. My blood pressure started to rise again so like you I thought try omega-3. Then my doctor put me on doxazosin a few days ago I really hope that this works . I do get worried when I am having so many allergic reactions to so many medications. I believe in natural remedies but it's finding one that will work quick especially with blood pressure you can't mess around with that. Anyway good luck and I hope everything goes well for you .
