Amlodipine Side effects

Has been taking Amlodipine for about 18 months . Initially thought it was great .But now developed mild to moderate swelling both legs . But most importantly has also developed joint pains and discomfort both lower limbs and upper arms and shoulder .I am still able to jog about 3 miles 3 times a week. Sometime getting up from a sitting position after a while or getting out of the car is a big deal and I am only 52 .I have also observed a decreased sexual energy .

I also experience difficulty with sleep and sometime sweats and nasty dreams and I put this down to the AMLODIPINE . As one lady shared I have also observed that it takes the sparkle out my my mood i.e feeling a bit down and not my usual self . In the last few weeks I have also noticed a skin rash mainly on the abdomen and with skin lumps which feels like abdominal fat about 1-2cm . Again I put this down to the Amlodipine .

Does anyone have a similar experience . pls advise .Kindly please update about the situation and ban in Holland.

Best wishes to all!

I have been on amlodipine now for 4yrs or longer, started off with 5mg and started to get backpain sore joints through out my whole body although not right away this slowly crept up on me, i do quite a physical job so just put it down to the work i was doing,in the last year or so i was put up to 10mg as my b.p was still just as high, i now struggle to get out of car or if i sit for any length of time i get discomfort sleeping at night is a joke, i was sent for M.R.I. scan which shows everything is ok, i was put on light duties at work still getting the same pain i even bought a new memory foam mattress which wasnt cheap. still the same. i am only 41 yrs of age half the time i cant remember my name i have ruled everything else out my doc. says it's not the amlod. but i have told him i'm comming of it anyway so we are in the process of changing over, let you know how i get on. i just hope that the symptoms clear up when i get off it, before i lose my job and everything else i worked so hard for.
