    Hi Sarah,

I assume you are gently cutting down on the amlodopine dose in order to completely stop taking it. It would be ok to stop taking. Your bp, if anything, is slightly on the low side since the perfect text book bp for a young healthy person would be 180/75 ish so you are well within a healthy range. Once you have stopped taking this medication you will start to feel better and return to your 'normal' self. Hang on in there and keep telling yourself this is only temporary and you will be happy again soon.

    I wish you well...soon!

@sara1234, amlodipine takes a few days to clear out of your system even when you've stopped it cold, on 5mg/day it will take a week or more to really feel the difference.

If your BP is as low as that all the time, you might talk to your doctor about stopping it cold now, and even whether you need the other drug!

(btw I think Kathy meant 120/75)

Amlodipine does not even need to be tapered, afaik, of the major BP drug classes really only the beta blockers need to be tapered. Though it's always a good idea, I guess.

Amlodipine didn't make me feel depressed, but I think it did aggravate arrhythmias. And my BP really didn't change when I stopped taking it, since I was also on ARB and beta blockers and diuretics - combinations like that being almost universal in the US.

Can't understand why you're taking anything as your BP is normal. If you want to keep it stable naturally take Magnesium and a glass of beetroot juice once a day. I took two half doses of Amlodopine and ended up in A&E with very severe stomach cramps. No need to cut down, just stop it dead.

    Hi,

You take 2 different medications so how can you tell that your side effects are caused by amlodipine alone. Give yourself the time to get used to these meds and try taking one pil at a time so that you know what causes your side effects.

Your readings are rather low. If it continues to stay that low then please discuss that with your GP.

    Good Luck

Your blood pressure seems very low. This could be contributing to your feelings of feeling weak and depressed. I would have a chat with your Dr about how you feel and the best way to come off the tablets.

I take Perindopril and Amlodopine with no side affects at all so I guess I am lucky.
