amoxicillin / predsnedone rescue pack

I have been taking amoxicillin and prednesone for my infections but they don't seem to be working now, my infections seem to continue. Does anybody take any other anti biotics for their infections that I could maybe ask my GP about? Thanks

I used to have amoxi until it stopped working I was on  3gram  sachets twice a day which is a BIG DOSE

I have of course been on everything  over the years

But apart from the Azithromycin I am on all the time...my rescue AB  is co-amoxyclav  500/125mg    you might try that...I am sure others will have their own 'favourite'  ab ...but a lot depends on which 'bug'  is making you ill, so you will need a sputum test

    Hi,

A sputum culture is the only way to go.  I request one every time I develop a respiratory infection.  The wait can feel long when I cannot breathe well, so I usually use another antibiotic and steroid injection until the result  of the culture comes back and then my GP can switch the antibiotic.  I have lived on too many antibiotics my whole adult life and would have infection return even before the next round of antibiotics of even finished.  It is a huge insult to the body and wears me down, as you most likely well know.

    My best wishes

    Hi Kat,

I have recently been ill with a bad chest infection. I am very prone to these and pneumonia. My doctor gave me 500 mg Amoxicillin  to be taken 3 times a day along with the prednesdone. The Amoxi didn't work so she put me on Doxycyline. I'm on my third course and at last I'm feeling a lot lot better. You could ask about those ones. Hope you get better real soon.
