Anaemia and Raised Red Blood Cell Count

Hi, I recently had some routine blood tests done, and they indicate that I have iron deficiency anaemia, however my red blood cell count is slightly high, just above range! Has anyone else experienced this? I am awaiting a telephone consultation with a GP but I don't know how long until that will be. I am keen to start supplementing as soon as possible due to ferritin being very low, and the fact that I have just started my period, so hoping I can speak to someone at my GP surgery soon!

For reference,

Ferritin 5 (range 30-148)

Red blood cell count 4.84 (range 3.7-4.8)

Haemoglobin 93 (range 120-150)

Haematocrit 0.322 (range 0.36-0.46)

Mean corpuscular volume 66,6 (range 83-101)

Mean corpusc haemoglobin 19.2 (range 27-32)

Red blood cell distribut width 21.8 (range 11.6-14)
