Anal fissure and blood clots

I have an anal fissure. I manage it by using stool softeners and Rectogesic and then it goes away for a number of months before it flares up again. At the moment it has flared up and the stool softeners are helping me to have a bowel movement every day. However, this time I have noticed a small bright red blood clot on the tissue every time I wipe. I’m now wondering if that is just from my fissure as I’m breaking it open just as it starts to heal or whether it’s more serious. Has anyone had a similar experience in terms of noticing blood clots from a fissure?

hi Jane, I can't remember seeing blood clots on my baby wipes but I hope you are not irritating your fissure more by using toilet paper. If it's been many months already with AF. Please look into surgery to help you a long the healing process. You may need to make arrangements for time to heal as well. I hope you feel well soon. Take care.
