Anal fissure and thrombosed hemorrhoid

Hi all. On September 1, 2017,  I went to my regular doctor because I was having pain. I wasn't getting any better so on September 5,  I went to see a colon and rectal specialist. He said I had developed a thrombosed hemorrhoid and if I was not better by Friday to come back in. Friday, September 8 I went back in because I was not better. I also had developed an anal fissure,  which is a tear in your rectum. It is now September 14, and I am no longer having pain but I am itching like crazy.   I give my healing ability to a lot of sits baths. I did increase my fiber intake from about 6 g of fiber per day to around 25.   I'm also drinking about a gallon of water, if not more daily.  I also started putting straight Aloe vera gel on my rectum and that may have helped, too.

i'm writing this post because for all of you that have been in this pain, it is not fun. Also, I don't want it to come back and I'm trying to figure out how to best to eat my fiber.  I did make the mistake of going from 6 g of fiber to about 20 g. I read my sheet  afterwords, and I was supposed to increase my fiber  gradually. I did get gas and a little bit of bloating. Thank goodness I did not get diarrhea!

also, any suggestions to help with the itching? I did just now put on the  Recticare  that the colon rectal specialist suggested; it did not burn this time like it did at the beginning. I was not impressed with it at the beginning but my itching could possibly be going away.

am I doing the right thing? Any suggestions? I think I'm going to love this forum.

You poor  thing. Perhaps, you should go get a second opinion. Are you seeing a GP or a colon rectal specialist?  Are you sure you haven't developed an anal fissure.  I have increased my fiber and I'm taking lots of sits baths.   I did have diarrhea last night and this morning. It brought back some of my pain but I'm hoping it will go away soon.   Have you done all of this? My heart goes out to you. It's a pain no one wants!

Do you have straight Aloe Vera gel? You can buy the plant and break the leaf off and place the gel right on the outside of rectum  and/or put it further up. I bought from a health store, Lily of the desert, Aloe Vera gel, a dietary supplement.  You can also drink it but I have not done that. You keep it in your refrigerator  and it is quite soothing to the touch when you put it on your rectum. I feel it helped clear me up.  Trust me, it does not staying like some of the other creams and such that people have recommended!

It is scary because after having diarrhea twice the last couple of days, I feel like I have a little throbbing coming back.  Nothing I can't handle yet. You might try this and take as many sits baths if you can. Good luck!

      Hi sharen 69350

Il ask my sister to get me this aloe Vera and try it today. I had tried coconut oil as felt my skin was burning and it did help a little.   After 105 calls to get through to my GP this morning was told only appointment left was ten past 4.   I don't think they can help anyway it's a time thing I think and just waiting for Botox to waiver off.  Now thinking the injection site is causing the most pain and not just the fisher or piles

I also had a thrombosed hemrrhoid twice in 24 hrs. Had it lanced. If you had a true anal fissure it is not over unless you had surgery. Reticare is great because it is a thick paste better then the thin lidocaine 5 %. I also do sitz baths twice a day sometines 3 times. I have an anal fissure since December 2016 and have been told by 2 MD's if it heals within 1 month it is acute,if it last more then 3 months it is chronic. I have found a new med since being on this forum it works. It is  called CALMOL ,it is a suppository. If the pain comes back you can try thst. As for as the itching I can't explain it but when I am not in excruciating pain I am itching. I ignore it.

Hi pecan tan.  i'm not trying to argue with you but I wonder if we have the same thing. My hemmorhoid is internal and I don't think there is anyway that they could  Lance it.  Are you sure yours is not external but up in the rectum?   also, from your comment about an acute anal Fissure versus chronic, I believe mine must be acute because I'm going on about 16 days and I do think I am healing and it is going away. As far as surgery, I had an anal Fiissure back in the 80s and had no surgery. Fortunately,  it never came back until now, years later.

like I mentioned, I am not disagreeing with you. I think these forrums are great so we can help one another; however, everyone's situation could be a little different.

I may  look into getting calmol.  Is that a prescription or over-the-counter? I have been taking annucort  for years and my doctor told me to not take it very much because it is a  steroid.

Best of luck  to you and everyone else ever dealing with these issues!

You r right mine was external. My anal fissure started in December 2016 and I thought the thrombus was back because of the pain and the bleeding. When it did not go away but caused painful bowel movements and tears on one occasion. I realized I needed to see a specialist .  He diagnosed ne with an anal fissure. After one month of nitroglycerin therapy, docusate 2 caps po at night, fiber and drink lots of water. After a month I thought I was healed only ti have it come back with a vengence . I couldn't sit stand or have a normal bowel movement or even pads gass. All of this was extremely painful. I went to a specialist referred by a friend who had an anal fissure in the past he told ne I need surgery, botix and to have extetnal and internal hemrrhouds removed  . All of the relief I have obtained has been from this forum. I started to use dulcolax, coconut oil, lavender oil epsom salt baking soda and witch hazel in my bath. Calmol ,suppisitories which are very effective when I can get them inside. I can't get anything inside the nitro or the suppositories even when using a lubricant. Too painful with a flate up,and I dont need it when I am not in pain. So I await surgery and am very hopeful. I went to one day a werk from a full time schefule and now am not working at all. This is serious. I have not bren off from work for any length of time except vacation in 30 years.

Try somee zinc oxide in the form of calmoseptine which has menthol to soothe the area down there as well. Calmoseptine can be bought at almost any local drugstore and can be bought online too. It might help with the itching.
