Anal fissure + constipated ...hard to deal with it ? any solution

Hi All...

My 1st time here so please be gentle and ignore my errors. I am 43 yrs of age, work full time as a HCA in NHS. I am a person with just too many problems. I am type 2 diabetic + suffer from anal fissures + lumbar spine problems. I am on tramadol for my back pain + being treated for anal fissures by the consultant. I was given the so called anal botox 3-4 months to reduce the spasms. Now i have developed an enlarged haemorroid which is about 1 centimeter and am truely constipated. Pain is like a dagger through my heart + so painful to even sit down. I am still constipated big time. I am allowed to take upto 4 sachets of movicol + fybogel + my diabetic meds (metphormin upto 1500 mg a day) + my pain killers (zapain-codiene phosphate) + my depression meds (venlafaxin)

After seeing the GP he has given me Proctosedyl oinment which is not helping at all since 5 days now. He said he thinks the pain killers (tramadol) and my anti-depressants (venlafaxin) are causing constipation.

How can i get rid of this haemorrid thing ?...or is there any strong, very strong pain killer that will not cause constipation ?....

please advise

Many thanks....

I am so sorry to hear about what you are going through! I got an anal fissure after giving birth to my daughter (was taking bp medications for preeclapsia and percocet for c-section), six months ago. I got the Botox treatment 10 days ago and haven't noticed any improvement yet. Have you noticed any improvement with your botox procedure?

Has your colorectal surgeon mentioned anything about the LIS procedure? I think it has a 95% success rate for treating fissure. Every response I have received from this site said they healed from the LIS.

      Hi lee...

Thank you for your message. NO ! the Botox procedure did not help at all and when i visited my colorectal surgeon last month, she even refused to check internally (due to causing more harm and the area being visibally sore) and she said i will need another Botox procedure. I dont really remember her mentioning the LIS, but she did say something about taking things further..i might find out when i visit next which is in 2 weeks time. Its getting worse after my last visit to my GP 6 days ago and i got a visit after 2 hours about protruding haemorrhoid. I am bleeding as well and its next to impossible to go to the toilet. I feel like a 105 yr old really.

If i do as my GP said, increase the movicol upto 4 satchets per day, well i tried to push it upto 3 satchet and (i feel ashamed to say), i was slightly delayed in reaching the loo in time. but i will update you all....thank you again....

Hey, I am so sory you aren't feeling any relief. I am not either. sad Prior to the botox, when my fissure would reopen a little (would be so painful) but I would take my laxitives and a few days later would be okay and painfree until weeks later (If I go for a jog and get a spasm) and would accidentally reopen, bleed, pain etc. BUT right now I am not bleeding anymore, but I have such a horrible pain when I use the bathroom. My husband said the Dr. told him that during the procedure he burned around the fisure area, so I asume that is the pain that I am experiencing?

Did you also receive the same fissure burn thing during your procedure?

heya...I guess you might just have to wait a couple more days and see how it goes since you recently had the procedure done i guess. Atleast the bleeding has stopped and again, i guess the pain maybe due to the fisure burn like you mentioned. I have not really had my procedure done yet and got no idea when is my surgeon gonna do it. I am sure however, that in next 12 days i will be given a botox injection again and maybe months after that i might have to go through that big procedure, fisure burn.....
